This wine was another one from the tasting that I hosted last weekend. My friend who brought the bottle of 2007 Coppola Director's Cut Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel had a great story about going to Napa during harvest season and smelling the grapes everywhere. One of the really fun things about having a tasting where everyone brings a different wine is getting to hear the stories that go with the selection.
This wine was made with fruit entirely from the Dry Creek Valley. There is a little Petite Sirah thrown in on this wine. The alcohol on this one comes in at 14.5%. The price of this wine starts at about $20.
The nose on this wine was beautiful, with loads of berry aromas. I got some cherry and raspberry, with some really nice floral smells, and a little bit of chocolate. This wine had a really creamy mouthfeel, with some jammy red fruits and more chocolate.
This wine was enough to bring me over to the sweeter side. This was probably the sweetest wine that we had at our tasting, which typically would not bode well for my feeling about it. This wine was really effing good though, and I couldn't help but love it. I think that this wine is a great value in the price range, and I would definitely recommend it.
